Sticks and I continue pushing our bodies to the limit until we are forced to take a day off the trail in Virginia.

After hiking 550 miles on the Appalachian Trail, I am officially 25% of the way to Katahdin. Snow returns to the trail and I’m reunited with an old friend.

As I leave North Carolina behind me and enter Virginia, I start to contemplate how the Appalachian Trail has changed my outlook on life.

After a month of hiking, I finally earn my trail name, Crazy Horse, as I hike the Appalachian Trail through Tennessee!

I’m treated to surprise visitors in Erwin, TN, as I continue my Appalachian Trail thru-hike through the Roan Highlands and leave North Carolina behind.
