Te Araroa Gear List
The Te Araroa is a huge undertaking and you wouldn’t want to leave home without these important items! Check out my complete gear list for the TA.
After hiking the Appalachian Trail in 2018 I felt I was in a good position for the Te Araroa trail. I decided to use much of the same gear for this hike. There are a few slight changes but overall it’s pretty similar to the AT.
In total my base weight came out to be 10kg (22lbs) and increased to 15.6kg (34.3lbs) with food and water. So I’m just under my AT starting weight of 15.9kg (35lbs). I’ve always preferred hiking with the gear that makes me comfortable rather than worrying about shedding weight.
